2012 DCAFP Annual Meeting - A Success!
 
On November 1, 2012, local family medicine physicians, residents and students gathered at the Liaison on Capitol Hill to attend the Annual Meeting of the District of Columbia Academy of Family Physicians (DCAFP).
 
Dr. Javette Orgain, Vice Speaker of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) served as the keynote speaker and gave an excellent presentation, “Family Medicine’s Place in the Future of US Health Care”.  Dr. Orgain also installed DCAFP officers.
 
Dr. Babafemi Adenuga was installed as the President of the District of Columbia Chapter. Past President, Michelle Roett, MD, MPH, FAAFP recognized members’ local and national accomplishments, and showcased local research conducted by members.
 
The DCAFP was awarded a grant from the AAFP Foundation to implement the Highlight on Diabetes Program at our annual meeting. Dr. Marcy Oppenheimer presented a CME presentation on diabetes management: “The Diabetes Epidemic: Family Physicians at the Front Line”.
 
Indeed, the DCAFP Annual Membership Meeting was the occasion for a delightful evening of dining, fellowship, and fun.

The DCAFP is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to improving the health and health care of the DC community through the support of family physicians and their patients. The mission of the DCAFP Foundation (DCAFP Foundation), as the philanthropic arm of the DCAFP, is to advance the values of Family Medicine by promoting humanitarian, educational, and scientific initiatives that improve the health of all people. DCAFP President, President-Elect, Past-President, Treasurer and Executive Director will continue to serve as the Board of Trustees of the DCAFP Foundation. The main objectives for 2012 will be to fund students and residents attending national family medicine conferences, and funding local CME initiatives.
