·         The DCAFP awarded $700 scholarships to one student from each of the three medical schools in the District of Columbia to attend the AAFP National Conference for Residents and Students.
Congratulations to the following recipients:
·          Bryce Parent, Georgetown University
·          Lisa Netherland, George Washington University
·          Sean Johnson, Howard University

·         The DCAFP received the Highlight on Diabetes Award from the AAFP Foundation to implement a turn-key educational program to help improve the management of patients with diabetes.
·         Congratulations to Dr. Douglas Kamerow, Professor of Clinical Family Medicine at Georgetown University Medical for his recent article in the BMJ: "Direct primary care: a new system for general practice."
·         Dr. Ranit Mishori, Associate Professor, Georgetown University published, "If We Don't Ask, They Won't Tell." in the Huffington Post.
·         Lisa Netherland, medical student at George Washington University received the AAFP Target School Award.
·         Georgetown University School of Medicine Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) received a Program of Excellence (POE) Award in the Professional Development category. Congratulations! Dr. Alison Bartleman, faculty advisor and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. Special acknowledgement to Laura Arvidson-Guzman for preparing and submitting the application!
·         Sade Adeyi and Seth Rosenblatt were featured on CBS Evening News for a story about the lack of Primary Care physicians. watch video
